Prayer for foster kids
Got this note from Eric Marsh regarding a prayer project for foster children that a couple from his church led:
I thought you'd like to hear about a project at Grace. We have this dynamo couple (the Moores) who have adopted three children and have become the most passionate advocates for foster kids in LA. Enjoy.
We did our Blue Ribbon Project at Grace Brethren Church yesterday. It was very well received. All the ribbons (more than 950) were claimed and thus all the children will be prayed for by folks from our church. Between our church, Bethany Baptist and Parkcrest, the children will each have two or more people praying for them. Though many of the children may understandably believe otherwise, people do value them and people do care about them. One of our pastors put in a personal plug to the congregation and another one of our pastors indicated that he will offer volunteers to help make the ribbons next year. In other words, this is not a one- time deal. Further, one of the staff members of the church offered to pay for materials. Thanks for partnering with us on this project. It gives our churches a tangible connection to the children and will hopefully lead many to consider taking in foster and fost-adopt children in the future. We are now trying to figure out some way to do a one day music camp using some of the many talented musicians at Grace. Those with whom I have spoken were very receptive. We'll continue to explore other ways we at Grace and other area churches might serve our city's foster kids.Attached are before and after pictures of one of the 19 trees (each of which held 50 or more ribbons) on our plaza.Again, thanks for your help in facilitating this!God bless,John Moore
