Day 1 Hear/See/Mean

The following is a summary of reflections on the first day of the Global Learning Community.

The church of every age gets locked into paradise. We must be open to find the Kingdom of God in surprising places.

The old man was a man of revival. But in trying to sustain his influence, he made a movement into a monument. What they needed was a new pouring out of grace in that community.

The community never had any fresh insight for themselves. They always referred back to what the minister said.

David served God in his generation and then he died. Something has to die for something new to arrive.

There was no reproduction, only remembrance. Even the sisters remained barren.

Babette used her greatest gift to her greatest extent. She brought new grace and experienced new grace.

The church needs people who are fully alive: passion meets purpose.

We need to rethink what we are doing. We are not accustomed to asking what difference our numbers are making in our cities.

Babette reintroduced the Lord's Supper. Every meal should be a picture of the Lord's Supper. The table of the Lord is not morbid, it's where Jesus is alive.

She was there for 14 years. Two sevens until 10,000 francs. She served with humility. When the time came she invested everything she had. She saw it as a Kairos time.

The pious saying no creates a place of safety. This was the gift they gave to Babette. She gave them the gift of saying yes.
