What Would Jesus Do?
Eric Marsh sent this to me from the Orange County Weekly from the July 5, 2005 edition. It was an editorial comentary on "Serve Day" that involved 30 churches and 130 service projects. It's a bit tounge-in-cheek but I think it also portrays how many in the community view Christians.
You know what we haven't done in a while? Analyzed this whole "What Would Jesus Do? movement. Like What Would Jesus Do if he had to take the bus down 17th Street in Santa Ana? What Would Jesus Do if he had to shop at Kmart instead of Heaven? What Would Jesus Do iof he had to live in Stanton--and drink the water there?
What Would Jesus Do? Easy. He tell you, "Clean this shit hole of a count up"...well, not exactly in those words, but along those same lines. Oh, yea, and that the end is near or something.
Well, thank Jesus for sending us some of the best gosh-darn little helpers on Earth: Christians! This Saturday, thousands of them will scrub the city clean of sin. Armed with shovels, brooms, hammers, paintbrushes, crucifixes and rags, these wholesome worshipers will take part in more than 130 service projects around Orange County and parts of Long Beach (a.k.a. Satan's City).
The festivities will begin on Friday with a "Gear Up!" rally at RockHarbor Church in Costa Mesa. Join them as they pray for the even t, dedicate themselves to Jesus, and devote thei unceasing efforts to rid the world of heathens.
As if your Sunday wasn't already enough, give God your Saturday too, at Serve Day '05 countywide....For more information on where you can clean up the trash you probably threw out of your car, visit www.serveday.com
