Jerry Wunder Update
As well, almost everyday feels to be a new day here in our ministry. In Galatians 4:4, Paul reminds us in the fullness of time, God sent His son.
Here are recent stories of God at work.
New birth: A young friend of ours, challenged to start a new church just three months ago, told us they are almost outgrowing the small apartment in which they meet. Beginning with 4 young believers, the home church has grown to 8 who attend now. Last week, one young woman led three of her co-workers to faith over lunch, and they are all now part of this new church.
New birth: An associate team member is a manager in a factory here in our city. He has been doing many relational activities with his factory workers, showing his own care for them along with the love of Christ. While he has seen a worker here and there come to faith, it is only in the recent weeks that something new seems to be happening. For the last several weeks utilizing a popular new outreach for those who know little or nothing about church or Christ, he saw 2 come to faith one week, 3 the following week and then 5 just a week ago. This will be the nucleus of a new house church which will meet in the factory itself.
New birth: The Church Planting Network, begun in partnership with a number of U.S. churches, has grown and given birth to several new churches within the past 12 months and the training of over 22 emerging bi-vocational pastors
New birth: One of the key strategies in our city has been Stage 2. The focus is to help recent graduates transition from the campus into the market place. If they are not in a church when they leave campus, we help them to become part of an existing church or to plant a new one. 6 of the past year’s graduates of our campus ministry began a new church two weeks ago.
New birth: Josh McDowell was in our city last weekend at the invitation of the (national) Red Cross. Josh held several secular seminars including one on his 7A’s of Relational Parenting. Although we have taught marriage and parenting seminars for over 7 years in our country, Josh opened doors of partnership with the Red Cross and the university community to teach on the family in new ways and places, all sponsored, amazingly, by governmental organizations.
