"Each year more than 1 Million Children are forced to leave school because of poverty"
What was the impact of this film on you:
It shows a tremendous amount of dedication.
It is a picture of a lost coin/sheep and how she wouldn't be satisfied until it was found.
A shepherd caring for her flock.
They learned more math solving the problem than studying.
It shows the power of a cause; everyone can rally around.
The power of the media to reach the lost.
I feel humbled and convicted. Do we care as much about what we are doing as she cared.
She was a transformational leader.
She was persistent. This is a parable of how to handle people of power.
She didn't know how it would happen, but she stuck to her cause.
She asked for help.
A moving study of obedience. She obeyed some and not others because of her sense of importance.
Her tears moved where words did not.
Can we love through the Law.
The power of One.
Here motivation changed, from getting paid, to a greater cause.
I was stuck by the apathy of the world toward the child.
Many times we invest much in materials (useless posters) but we are the material. It was not what she had, but what she did that made a difference.
Telling the story repeatedly moved people.
Though there was apathy, when the story got out many responded.
This story is like ourselves, we are apathetic to tragedy all around us.
People responded to her powerlessness.
Insider commentary: Even in the capital city there is more than a half million kids who cannot go to school. There are 4 million immigrants looking for work in the city. There are advancements from the Olympics etc. The government will not allow children without local identification to go to school. Children run free, playing in garbage dumps etc. Then the government realized that this was a problem. But tuition is still the barrier. The children must have 3 years salary of their parents to get into school.
Some have begun to create schools for these children.
In 15 years there will be 200-300 million people rush to cities. Imagine the population of the US showing up in cities in the next 15 years.
3 points
There is apathy among urban peoples for rural peoples in need. There is a predatory instinct at work here as well.
Poverty is crushing in rural areas. This is why people are flocking to the cities.
There are many resources in the city. But how do we connect those resources with those in need. There is a tremendous need with tremendous opportunities
The actress in the film is actually a teacher in the rural school. And two or three years after the end of the film story, poverty drove the teacher from the school.
