Life Journey Map - Brad Fieldhouse
Grew up in CA, in a racially diverse neighborhood but church background was monocultural.
In High School Brad got sick of white people and rebelled from his culture. Moved to Bellflower where 50,000 people live within 5 blocks.
Went to Fuller Seminary and discovered world wide ministry. Took a class on Cell based churches with people flown in from around the world. It showed Brad what was happening outside the Western church. Bakke: 80% of Christians are non-white, non-Western and non-Northern. Brad read books by people out of his culture.
Brad and his wife moved to Long Beach to be a good neighbor. They began a Church planting strategy called Crossroads in Long Beach. It was a Saturation strategy.
Three things, buildings, budgets and big shots were hindrances to a movement. Radical sub-cultures in the city didn’t mix. They learned about reproducibility and empowering new leaders. Brad then went to Northwest Graduate School.
Crossroads doesn’t pay anyone. Brad runs a company for a member of the LA. County Board of Supervisors. They hired tent-making church planters.
They saw radical impact in the city from different contexts. Programming could not be done well because of the diverse make up. They incited a part-time revolution. The church is not a program, it’s the thousand of interactions by individuals day to day.
Kingdom Causes is a city reaching effort without program to mobilize the masses. Now they are planting Churches on a Global Scale in 22 Countries. They are planting 3 churches a week.
